Trying to find a healthy recipe that doesn’t take too much time, too many ingredients, and feeds a hungry family seems impossible for some! But for the Girl Scouts Troop #66206 of Glassboro this felt like a challenge they could manage with ease.
Taylor (12), Dominique (16), Katie (11), and Faith (14) of Troop 6626 showcased their Silver Award project, the “Cookin’ Under 10 Cookbook,” to the FBSJ team in which they presented their innovative book which outlines ten healthy recipes using ten ingredients or less from food one might find in an FBSJ food pantry that is able to feed ten people. Pretty cool, right?!
The girls researched and tested out their recipes to pull together the cookbook by working with the FBSJ Healthy Living Initiative team and a registered dietician from ShopRite. They now plan to go out into the community and distribute them to local food pantries throughout Glassboro and perform cooking demonstrations for the attendees.
When asked why she wanted to work with FBSJ, Faith answered simply, “Because I love food, I like cooking, and I like helping people.”
Featuring recipes like chicken tortilla soup, pepperoni tortilla pizza, arroz con gandules, and many other tasty recipes, this cookbook is an awesome resource for healthy, affordable, and delicious meals for any family. Take a look and try them out for yourself!
