Truckload of Health

Hunger Games

What does a Truckload of Health do?
It Works for the Community
As New Jersey’s recovery trails that of the rest of the nation, the number of food-insecure families in South Jersey increases.

The USDA has designated more than two dozen communities in South Jersey as “FOOD DESERTS”

Food Deserts are communities without access to grocery stores, a local food pantry or any nearby resource for fresh food.

The Food Bank of South Jersey’s “Truckload of Health” will travel to these FOOD DESERTS, will set up tables and distribute fresh produce and shelf stable nutrient dense foods. Each truck will contain 60% fresh fruits and vegetables and 40% grains, proteins, and complex carbohydrates.

Volunteers man the sign up and/or sign in registration table and volunteers at each hand out the precious commodities of healthy food.

It Works for Your Company
Studies show customer loyalty is strengthened for companies with strong ties to worthwhile causes. We want to give your firm high visibility to let everyone know who much you have helped.

Your company name and logo can be affixed to the back or the side of the Hope Mobile with the words: “Company Name is bringing a Truckload of Health to Name of Town!”

Truckload of Health

As the Hope Mobile travels South Jersey making deliveries and picking up food, your company name will get hundreds of thousands of impressions just like a mobile billboard. And it is our hope, that your participation will encourage other companies to get on board.

Visibility is free because your firm can use this charitable donation sponsorship as a tax deduction.

Catch a glimpse of the competition from the February Food Bank Hunger Games

Each team will get an identical box of food normally distributed by the Food Bank of South Jersey and will be tasked to create a tasty, nutritious meal from the ingredients.

Team Mentors will try to get an audience member to purchase “gifts” of extra spice, or oil to help their team get a winning edge. While the Food Bank Hunger Games are in progress, Audience Members can:

• Browse Dessert Alley to sample Gourmet Chocolates from the Candy Jar, Delightful Cupcakes from Sweet T’s Bakeshop, Chef Willie May’s bite-sized cheese cakes. Then cast your ballot to vote for the “Best of the Bite-Sized Desserts.”

• Enter a Raffle to win prizes

After an hour, the Tribute teams will present their dishes to our prestigious Foodie Judges:
Nancy Painter, Founder and Publisher of Edible Jersey, Marianne Aleardi, Publisher and Editor of SJ Magazine Tammy Paolino, Food Blogger and Feature Editor of the Courier Post

The winners will be presented with a trophy, and their Food Bank Hunger Games Chef Toques.
May the odds be ever in your favor!
