Although summer may seem a long way off, it’s never too early to start thinking about what will happen to children once school is out and they no longer have access to the nutritious breakfast and lunch served during the school year. The Summer Meals Program was created to ensure that children in low-income areas could continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations.
We have an urgent need for volunteers to help prepare and pack meals for children this summer. Our Summer Meals program provides FREE daily breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to hungry kids in South Jersey. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Volunteer shifts for Summer Meals are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 12:00pm and 12:30pm - 4:00pm at the Food Bank of South Jersey, 1501 John Tipton Blvd., Pennsauken, NJ. Kids 10 yrs old - 12 yrs old need parent or guardian present.
More volunteer opportunities are available throughout the summer. For more information and to sign up, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 856.662.4884 ext. 160.
It is estimated that over 57,000 children in our area are facing food insecurity. These are beautiful, active and hope-filled young citizens who deserve our help.
For this reason, the Food Bank of South Jersey has made a commitment to significantly expand our Summer Meals program. We hope that this will begin to reverse this disturbing trend. We have the sites, the children and the food; all we need are the corporate partners who care about bringing smiles to the warm hearts of these impressionable children.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR SPONSORS!
