The drive, which last year collected over 75 million pounds of food across the nation, enables communities to support their neighbors in need by utilizing local mail carriers to pick up essential food donations to distribute to local food banks. Last year’s SOH event gathered nearly 145,000 pounds of food for FBSJ to distribute to local residents in need.

Friday, May 11, 2018

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Where:

The Food Bank of South Jersey Headquarters, 1501 John Tipton Boulevard, Pennsauken, NJ 08110

How SOH Works:
Stamp Out Hunger is a national, single-day food drive established in 1993; this year’s SOH drive will take place on Saturday, May 12, the day following the kick-off event. Residents can participate by simply setting a bag of non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes or on their porches for their local letter carrier to pick up and deliver to the local hunger-relief organization. FBSJ is expecting to receive 250,000 pounds of food through this year’ SOH drive.

Who:

FBSJ Executive Staff along with representatives from the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), the United States Postal Service (USPS), and event sponsors including: Aetna, Beneficial Bank, Subaru, Westmont Associates, Inc., ShopRite, RLS Logistics, State Farm, Dunkin’ Donuts,  Jefferson Health and PSE&G will launch the community-based initiative at the kick-off event.
