Food Bank of South Jersey Celebrates Dunkin’ as Champion Against Hunger

PENNSAUKEN, NEW JERSEY (Nov. 15, 2019) – The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) is pleased to announce it will honor longtime partner Dunkin’ with the “Champion Against Hunger Award” at its annual Viva South Jersey Gala Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, recognizing Dunkin’s leadership, steadfast support and inspirational commitment to championing against food insecurity in South Jersey.

Throughout the past eight years, Dunkin’ has committed to the fight against hunger in the Greater Philadelphia region through its “Roast Hunger” program, benefitting five local food banks, including Food Bank of South Jersey. Since 2011, Dunkin’ has raised over $1.5 million to help hunger relief efforts in our area. This year, starting on Thanksgiving Day through December 20, for every large hot coffee purchased by DD Perks members, Dunkin’ will donate $1 to its regional food bank partners. Dunkin’ and its local Philadelphia-area franchisees also lend a hand by volunteering at their local food banks throughout the year.

The annual Viva South Jersey Gala takes place on Thursday, November 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Riverton Country Club in Cinnaminson, NJ. This year’s gala theme – Mardi Gras – will feature performances by the Quaker City Mummers, recording artist CC Miles and classic soul and R&B band Epic Soul, plus lively casino games, silent and live auctions, delicious cuisine, cocktails and much more. CBS 3 Philadelphia Reporter Chandler Lutz will serve as the event emcee. All event proceeds benefit food-insecure families in South Jersey who do not have regular access to healthy, affordable food.
