What do children do for lunch in food-insecure households during the long, hot summer? With the Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) and its expanding Summer Meals Program, more South Jersey children and teenagers were served nutritious meals – 238,986 meals served across 131 designated Summer Meals Program locations, with another 10,834 meals served by FBSJ’s mobile meals initiatives, including FBSJ’s School Bus Café.
It is estimated that over 57,000 children in our area are facing food insecurity. These are beautiful, active and hope-filled young citizens who deserve our help.
For this reason, the Food Bank of South Jersey has made a commitment to significantly expand our Summer Meals program. We hope that this will begin to reverse this disturbing trend. We have the sites, the children and the food; now we need your help, individuals and corporate partners who care about bringing smiles to the warm hearts of these impressionable children.
We know that you share our concern for this vulnerable population. We hope that you’ll do more than empathize from afar, but instead take a bold step and join us to help them… to ensure that they don’t go without food at a time when they should be happy and having fun. Learn more.
