PENNSAUKEN, NJ – The Food Bank of South Jersey’s Board of Trustees has announced Fred Wasiak,  a local South Jersey resident with over 30 years of leadership and executive management experience, as the new CEO, effective November 5, 2018.  As CEO, Wasiak will oversee all aspects of the Food Bank, including financial sustainability and operations, community engagement, programs, and staff development.

“After conducting an extensive search, we knew that Fred’s combined experience as both a nonprofit CEO and business owner make him the ideal candidate to lead the Food Bank through our next exciting chapter,” said Rick Cureton, Chairman, Board of Trustees. “We’re excited to welcome Fred aboard and look forward to working closely with him to advance the Food Bank’s mission of providing food to people in need, delivering health and wellness programs and designing sustainable solutions to help people improve their lives.”

As owner/principal of Humanics Consulting, Wasiak provided consulting, training, coaching and development services for board, staff and nonprofit organizations, including YMCAs, NJ Department of Education, Center-for-Nonprofits and National Afterschool Association conferences. Prior to that, he served as the COO/Operations Consultant for Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, NJ where he worked with staff to meet strategic initiatives, resulting in positive operational growth and the implementation of additional programs servicing members.  As CEO for YMCA Camp Ockanickon in Medford, NJ, Wasiak managed and funded a major capital improvement venture and worked with all areas of the organization to further the Y’s mission.

According to Wasiak, “I am looking forward to joining the Food Bank of South Jersey community of staff, volunteers and partners to continue helping people help themselves improve and nourish their lives as a whole person in spirit, heart, mind and body.  I believe the more awareness, connections and relationships the Food Bank of South Jersey can foster will help get us closer to eradicating food insecurities within our communities.”

Wasiak resides in Tabernacle, NJ with his wife and their children. Over the years, he has served on boards of directors for numerous nonprofit organizations.
