Welcome Volunteers,

The Food Bank of South Jersey was started by a group of dedicated volunteers, and today volunteers continue to help us feed hungry people in South Jersey.  We thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Food Bank of South Jersey.

As we navigate the current COVID 19 situation, please know that FBSJ is monitoring the situation and has created a Coronavirus Preparedness plan.

One area of concern at the Food Bank of South Jersey is the interaction of our volunteer work force. We want to ensure that the safety and ease of mind of our volunteer partners are addressed. As we implement our preparedness protocols we suggest all volunteers to exercise safe and healthy judgement in determining your attendance at FBSJ activities and events.

Currently all volunteer opportunities throughout the Food Bank’s operations have not been cancelled and at this time remain scheduled.  Volunteers are still needed to assist in those operations.

  • All shifts/distribution sites are limited to no more than 10 volunteer per shift.
  • All volunteers must be scheduled in advance. No volunteer opportunities are currently offered on weekends or evenings.
  • Volunteers must be 13 years or older and volunteers 13 – 16 must have a parent or guardian present.
  • Please wear comfortable shoes with a closed toe (very important!) in the warehouse.
  • Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing for any outdoor food distributions. Distribution sites are rain or shine events unless severe weather or extreme heat/cold is forecast.
