Jane M. Asselta

President & CEO Jane AsseltaOn February 11, 2026, Jane M. Asselta was named the President and CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey. In that role, she will lead the organization’s pursuit of its mission, guide its executive leadership, direct its strategic planning, and ensure its financial health and sustainability.  

 Jane is a senior executive leader, strategist, and advisor with more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, government, economic development, and fundraising. She recently served as Principal Management & Development Consultant at Asselta & Company, where she provided strategic counsel to nonprofit, membership-based, and mission-driven organizations to strengthen governance, operations, financial sustainability, and external engagement. 

 Prior to this role, Jane served as New Jersey State Director for USDA Rural Development, appointed by the White House, where she led the agency’s mission across the state and oversaw more than $500 million in total federal investment obligations during her three-year tenure supporting housing, small business growth, infrastructure, clean energy, and community facilities in rural New Jersey. In that role, she managed a multi-disciplinary team of more than 25 professionals, expanded outreach to underserved communities, and elevated the agency’s visibility through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and public engagement. 

 Prior to her federal service, Jane spent over a decade as Vice President of the Southern New Jersey Development Council, where she led organizational operations, policy advocacy, membership growth, communications, and regional economic development initiatives. Working closely with boards, elected officials, and business leaders, she advanced South Jersey’s economic competitiveness and strengthened the organization’s role as a trusted regional convener and advocate. 

 Earlier in her career, Jane founded and operated Asselta & Company, a consulting firm specializing in fundraising, development strategy, and organizational leadership. She began her professional journey in political campaigns, serving as Finance Director on several high-profile U.S. Senate and statewide races, where she built and managed multimillion-dollar fundraising operations and developed lasting relationships with donors, elected officials, and community leaders. 

 Jane is known for her collaborative, servant-leadership approach and her ability to translate mission into strategy and measurable results. She is deeply committed to public service, equity, and strengthening organizations that serve communities.  

 Jane is a native of Vineland growing up a few miles from the family’s produce farm when “farm to table” was a way of life. She is also a graduate of Douglass College, Rutgers University and is based in South Jersey.
