FOOD BANK OF SOUTH JERSEY WELCOMES NEW BOARD CHAIR AND OFFICERS
PENNSAUKEN, NJ (August 2025) – The Food Bank of South Jersey, the region’s leading hunger-relief organization, is pleased to announce its new slate of board officers. Jeffrey Hayman has been appointed Board Chair, succeeding Suzanne Ghee, whose term concludes this year. Neal Walters, a long-time supporter of FBSJ’s mission, will serve as Vice Chair, succeeding Douglas Schaeffer, who remains a trustee.
Hayman has held senior leadership and board roles across the global insurance industry and stays active in business via his advisory practice Lakeview Timbers, LLC. He is the co-founder of Hungry Minds, a nonprofit focused on improving food security for public-school students and expanding their academic opportunities through scholarships. Since joining the Food Bank’s Board of Trustees in 2022, Hayman has been an active advocate for advancing hunger-relief and nutrition-education programs. He currently chairs the food bank’s Feed South Jersey capital campaign, leading efforts to secure critical funding that will expand the organization’s reach and impact throughout the region.
Walters is a partner at Ballard Spahr LLP, where he leads the Product Liability and Mass Tort Group and co-leads the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. He represents manufacturers in automotive and industrial matters, including high-stakes class actions, and provides guidance on product risk management and compliance. Walters is a past chair of the food bank’s Governance and Gala committees and is active in youth sports in his community.
“We are deeply grateful to Suzanne for her leadership and commitment during her tenure as Board Chair, and we look forward to building on that foundation with our new officers,” said Fred C. Wasiak, President and CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey. “They bring a vital combination of local dedication and clear vision needed to guide the Food Bank forward, and their leadership will be crucial as we continue to adapt, strengthen our programs, and serve the community with resilience and purpose.”
