Food Bank of South Jersey Announces Retirement of President & CEO Fred Wasiak

Pennsauken, NJ (September 4, 2025) – After years of dedicated service to the South Jersey community, Fred C. Wasiak, President & CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ), has announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2025. Under his leadership, FBSJ has expanded its reach, strengthened partnerships, and deepened its impact across Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.

Since joining the Food Bank in 2018, Wasiak has guided the organization through a period of tremendous challenge and growth. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when food insecurity surged to unprecedented levels, he and his team rapidly scaled distribution efforts, ensuring that millions of meals reached neighbors in need. He also oversaw major program expansions in health and wellness, nutrition education, and community engagement, advancing the Food Bank’s role as a regional leader in addressing food insecurity.

“Fred has led the Food Bank of South Jersey with vision, heart, and steady determination,” said Jeffrey Hayman, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “We are deeply grateful for his leadership and the many ways he has strengthened this organization and our community.”

During his time as CEO, Wasiak prioritized building a culture of belonging at the Food Bank, grounded in mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and respect. Under his leadership, the organization strengthened its infrastructure and achieved key milestones, including retiring debt, establishing a sustainability fund, and launching a new Center for Health, Wellness, and Nutrition.

“It has been the honor of my career to serve alongside this incredible team, our partners, and volunteers who give so much of themselves to help our neighbors,” said Wasiak. “The Food Bank of South Jersey is built on the spirit of community, and I know will continue to thrive and grow for years to come.”

Prior to his tenure at FBSJ, Wasiak held executive leadership roles in the nonprofit and private sectors, including the YMCA and Goodwill Industries, and founded Humanics Consulting, where he focused on leadership development and organizational training. His career has been defined by a commitment to service, collaboration, and building strong, mission-driven organizations.

The Board of Trustees will oversee the process of identifying the next President & CEO.
