SNAP Emergency Allotments Are Ending
Since March 2020, the federal government authorized SNAP emergency allotments to help individuals and families pay for groceries during the pandemic. As you may have heard, those emergency allotments are ending on February 28, 2023. SNAP households will return to their regular SNAP benefit amounts.
The end of these allotments will put a strain on families that have depended on this for the last three years. SNAP recipients on average will see a reduction of about $90 in their monthly benefit.

What can SNAP recipients do to find other resources?
SNAP recipients can look into other food assistance programs that may also be available, such as:
- WIC for women and children under five
- Free or reduced school meals
- Commodity Supplemental Food Program for adults over age 60
