PENNSAUKEN, N.J. –

A global company — and one of the most popular online shopping services — visited a local food bank Wednesday to help leaders there figure out how to more efficiently run their operation.

On Wednesday, June 28th, logistics experts from Amazon, along with representatives from local Amazon fulfillment centers, visited the Food Bank of South Jersey in Pennsauken as part of the company’s national Kaizen program.

Amazon leaders toured the facility and offered tips on how to maximize the center’s resources as services there continue to expand. They also discussed how the Food Bank plans to help support children in need during the summer months.

I think it’s just a great thing for us to be able to use the opportunity and that presence that we have in the area to make a positive impact.

Officials of the company and its associates are proud to be able to help and serve the communities they call home.

“To be able to give back to the community [is fulfilling because] these are the communities where our associates live [and] work,” said Dan Moore, area manager at a national Amazon fulfillment center. “I think it’s just a great thing for us to be able to use the opportunity and that presence that we have in the area to make a positive impact.”

Amazon associates also volunteered for the day to help pack meals for families in need. The company also surprised the Food Bank with a $10,000 donation.

“We have a lot of knowledge on operations,” said Moore, “[and] the Food Bank here has a lot of knowledge on how to help the community.

Moore said that it’s Amazon’s mission to combine that knowledge so “we can make an even better product.”

Amazon officials plan to continue the volunteer partnership at the South Jersey Food Bank and has also promised to donate products to the center so it can continue to serve the community effectively.
