 Bank of America Employees Help Raise 300,000 Meals for South Jersey

To help fight hunger in the region, Bank of America donated $100,000 to the Food Bank of South Jersey for each bank employee who recorded a COVID-19 vaccine booster and flu shot

 

Pennsauken, NJ – A $100,000 contribution from Bank of America will help the Food Bank of South Jersey meet the unprecedented need for food assistance seen across the region. The funding will support pivotal hunger-fighting programs in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.

As South Jersey’s largest hunger-relief organization, the Food Bank served more than 120,000 neighbors in the last months of 2022 and distributed more than 18 million pounds of food throughout the year. Bank of America’s generous donation – which equates to approximately 300,000 meals – will make a tremendous impact for families in need.

“Because of inflation and rising food prices, hunger-relief organizations like ours are facing ongoing increased demand,” said Fred Wasiak, President & CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey. “But thanks to Bank of America and their commitment to championing their communities, we will be able to ease the strain on our neighbors.”

The grant is part of Bank of America’s effort to boost community and employee health by donating $50 to local hunger relief organizations for each employee reporting receiving a coronavirus vaccine, a coronavirus booster, and/or a flu vaccine in 2022. This campaign yielded $8 million in local hunger support nationwide.

Partnerships like the one between the Food Bank and Bank of America help build stronger communities. Nationally, the bank has donated nearly $150 million toward hunger relief efforts since 2015.
