Comcast Cares: Comcast Gives $40,000 to the Food Bank of South Jersey

PENNSAUKEN, NEW JERSEY – Comcast is helping to feed South Jersey. In an effort to support the Food Bank of South Jersey and strengthen the organization’s hunger-relief programs, Comcast has donated $40,000 to support outreach to food-insecure communities in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties.

With a history of supporting South Jersey’s largest hunger-relief organization in its effort to feed individuals, children, families and seniors, Comcast’s generosity comes at a time of continued elevated need, with more than 95,000 people turning to the Food Bank of South Jersey for life-sustaining food resources every month.

“We cannot feed South Jersey without the help of caring partners and supporters,” said Food Bank of South Jersey President & CEO Fred C. Wasiak. “As an organization, we are incredibly grateful for the operational strength and vital food resources Comcast enables through its generous support.”

The support by Comcast will assist in funding Food Bank of South Jersey’s ongoing programs and services, pivotal to fighting hunger in South Jersey. At present, organization’s food distribution network of more than 200 regional pantry partners continues to respond to a hunger crisis elevated as high as 60 percent in the most afflicted neighborhoods and communities impacted by the pandemic.

Currently one in every seven people living in South Jersey struggle with daily food insecurity. For children living in the Food Bank of South Jersey’s four-county service region, one in every five, and for some communities one in every four, children are food insecure.
