Food Bank of South Jersey Receives $59,500 Donation from Dunkin’ of Greater Philadelphia to Help Fight Hunger – South Jersey Observer

The donation is a combined effort from Dunkin’s ‘Roast Hunger’ program and Dunkin’s Joy in Childhood Foundation.


Pennsauken, N.J. — On February 29, 2019 Food Bank of South Jersey received a $59,500 donation from Dunkin’ of greater Philadelphia to help fight hunger throughout the region.

The donation is a combined effort from Dunkin’s ‘Roast Hunger’ program and Dunkin’s Joy in Childhood Foundation. This donation from Dunkin’ of greater Philadelphia will directly support the food bank’s mission to provide safe and nutritional food to people in need throughout South Jersey.

The Food Bank of South Jersey provides food to people in need, delivers health and wellness programs, and designs sustainable solutions to help people improve their lives.

The food bank provides an average of 850,000 pounds of food each month to people at risk of hunger or food insecurity throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties.

In 2018, FBSJ provided over 10 million pounds of food to approximately 200,000 South Jersey residents.

Providing community impact through local support, FBSJ ensures that local donations stay local. FBSJ is a member of Feeding America, our nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.

According to Feeding America, Philadelphia is ranked in the top 10 amongst highest number of food insecure cities with approximately one in four people facing hunger on a daily basis.

This year, Dunkin’ raised more than $330,000 through its Thanksgiving Day fundraiser and “Roast Hunger” campaign. Since 2011, Dunkin’ has raised more than $1.5 million through these two initiatives.

On Thanksgiving Day, Dunkin’ and it’s Philadelphia-area franchisees donated 10-percent of all coffee sales to regional food banks.

Additionally, from Nov. 22 through Dec. 31, DD Perks® members could receive a large Hot Coffee for $1.49 when they paid with an enrolled Dunkin’ card. For every “Roast Hunger” offer redeemed, Dunkin’s Philadelphia-area franchisees donated 50-cents to regional food banks.
