SALEM — The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) and Memorial Hospital of Salem County are teaming up to provide food and wellness services to children, seniors, and families in need.

Thanks to a grant from the Salem Health and Wellness Foundation, the food distribution service will give residents access to community enrichment services such as financial wellness, health coverage, and nutrition education. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County, FBSJ will deliver crucial resources to people living in areas known as “food deserts — places that lack access to a viable network of well-balanced, nutrient-rich food sources that enable healthy lifestyles.

There are over 20 known food deserts across Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, and Salem counties of which FBSJ services to reach the nearly 200,000 residents who struggle with food insecurity in these areas.
