A local food bank has received new state funding dollars to continue to help feeding families in need in South Jersey.
New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Deputy Speaker John Burzichelli, and Assemblyman Adam Taliaferro announced on Wednesday, September 27th, that the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs is awarding the Food Bank of South Jersey $30,000.
The new funding comes from the Community Services Block Grant Special Initiatives Program and will be used to purchase food and cover the costs of transportation associated with the Food Bank’s summer feeding program.
Officials say the funding will allow The Food Bank of South Jersey to continue to food the more than 200,000 people struggling with food insecurities in South Jersey.
