Twilight Wish Foundation and Food Bank of South Jersey Honor “Mrs. Bessie” for Volunteer Service

Pennsauken, NJ – Thanks to the support of the Twilight Wish Foundation, the Food Bank of South Jersey is pleased to honor volunteer Bessie Brooks for her enduring commitment to service and improving the lives of those around her. In recognition of her contributions, the Foundation presented Brooks with an award during a short celebration on January 16.

Known as Mrs. Bessie around the Food Bank, Brooks has been an invaluable volunteer at the hunger-relief organization, consistently dedicating her time to support those in South Jersey who face food insecurity. Without a car, Brooks relies on Uber to travel from her home in Camden to the Food Bank in Pennsauken. The Twilight Wish Foundation presented Brooks with gift cards for the transportation company so that Brooks may continue to volunteer at the Food Bank and keep this meaningful connection in her life.

“Mrs. Bessie’s unwavering dedication to the Food Bank has been inspiring,” said Tricia Yeo, Senior Manager of Health and Wellness at the Food Bank of South Jersey. “Her generosity and warmth shine through in everything she does, and her stories about her life and family are a treasured part of our time together in the kitchen. We are grateful to the Twilight Wish Foundation for recognizing Mrs. Bessie and supporting her continued efforts.”

Brooks’ longstanding dedication to helping others has remained steadfast, even following the passing of her husband. She has been an active member of her church, contributing to various initiatives and programs, and previously volunteered with the Salvation Army’s KROC Center daycare.
